Brink, then 14, became pregnant and she had to drop out of her high school. Davion was born and Brink had to move into an apartment. To help pay the bills she started working as a washerwoman. Brink was in her very first group Pulse located in Albany, New York. The band mainly opened local bands such as Coal Chamber or Sevendust. They broke up afterward. At the age of twenty-five, she moved her home from California to Los Angeles, looking for the big break. Brink sang and worked at cafes and bars while she was looking for a band. A couple of years later, Chris Howorth, a member of the current band that she's currently in, joined her at an interview. Howorth refused to audition her since she was a female. After hearing her perform the show, he decided to reconsider his position. They created the Dying Stars band along with Jeff Fabb, a drummer. Then guitarist Blake Bunzel joined the band along with bassist Josh Newell. The name of the group had been changed In This Moment after two performances.
